The streets off Goldhawk Road and Askew Road are late-Victorian and Edwardian terraces, three and four storeys, and most were carved up into flats years ago. That is the W12 pattern: a house that once had one family and one cooker now has three or four kitchens, and the oven in each is a freestanding cooker or a cheap built-in that takes hard use from tenants who change every year or two. Rental churn is high here, so a lot of our work is a kitchen being signed off between tenancies.

W12 is a heavy rental patch, popular with young professionals and families, which means letting agents ring us the week a tenant moves out. The job is nearly always a single oven at £77, sometimes with the hob and extractor added, cleaned to the standard an inventory clerk will pass. Over on the White City Estate, the 1930s and 1950s ex-council blocks, the ovens are older and freestanding, and the flats in the newer developments by the old BBC Television Centre are integrated singles.
The dip-tank method
Racks, shelves, trays and the side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van. The cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, and where the door design allows we split it to reach the inner glass. Then the oven is switched on, heat-tested and signed off. No chemical smell is left in the flat. A single is about ninety minutes; a double is nearer two hours.

Parking off the main roads
Uxbridge Road is the A4020 and carries the 207, 427 and SL8 buses along its whole length, so it is bus-laned and loading-restricted, and we never plan to park on it. Shepherd's Bush Market has its entrances on Goldhawk Road and Uxbridge Road, and those approaches get busy, so we load on the residential terraces behind them, which are a Hammersmith and Fulham controlled parking zone. A short stop on a side street to ferry the racks is far easier than anything on the main drag.

Can you do an end-of-tenancy oven clean at short notice?
Usually yes. We run seven days, and W12 turnover means we are booked around it often. The oven is heat-tested before we go, which is what agents and inventory clerks want to see.
My flat is a converted terrace with a small galley kitchen. Is that a problem?
No. We take the shelves and racks out to the van, so we do not need much space around the oven itself.
Will there be a chemical smell for the next tenant?
No. The caustic soak stays in the van, and the indoor work is non-caustic, so the kitchen is ready to hand over.
Do you cover the White City Estate?
Yes. We clean the older freestanding cookers on the estate and the integrated ovens in the newer White City flats alike.
