Shenfield station opened on 29 March 1843, closed in 1850 for want of passengers, and reopened on 1 January 1887 as Shenfield & Hutton Junction for the new line to Southend. Today it is one of the two eastern ends of the Elizabeth line.

Shenfield was a parish of its own until 1934, with 3,501 people at the 1931 Census, and is now part of the Brentwood built-up area. The 825 homes planned north of Shenfield
Land north of Shenfield, known as Officers Meadow, is an allocation for 825 homes, 288 of them affordable. Brentwood's housing supply schedule as at 1 April 2024 lists it as part approved and part pending. A new-build kitchen usually has an integrated single or double oven; the removable parts come out to be soaked and cleaned separately and the cavity is degreased by hand indoors.

Parking in Shenfield
Brentwood council runs two pay-and-display car parks in Shenfield, Friars Avenue and Hunter Avenue. Parking is free on Sundays, and the longest stay is three hours with no return within four. A single oven takes about 90 minutes, a double about two hours and a two-oven AGA about half a day, so tell us whether the van can use the drive. On the streets, follow the lines and signs: on-street parking is enforced by the South Essex Parking Partnership.

Where is the oven cleaned?
The cavity, fan cover and door glass are cleaned by hand in your kitchen. The racks, shelves, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the oven is put back together and heated for you to check before we leave.
