Two kinds of kitchen, one postcode
Sands End sits in a loop of the Thames between Chelsea Creek and Wandsworth Bridge, with New King's Road as its northern edge, and it is basically residential apart from the shops along Wandsworth Bridge Road. Half our work here is in the Imperial Wharf blocks, built over the old Imperial Gasworks, with a station that opened in 2009. Those flats are near-identical inside: one integrated single oven at eye level, a ceramic hob, a recirculating hood, everything flush. £77, ninety minutes.
The other half is the terraced streets behind, Stephendale Road and the roads off it, which were built for the gasworks and brewery workers and still have back-addition kitchens where a freestanding cooker sits in a gap someone measured badly in about 1998, so the sides are the worst part rather than the cavity.
The van, and what parking costs us here
Hammersmith and Fulham moved to emissions-based parking charges on 3 February 2025, and diesel vehicles pay an extra £1 an hour. A two-hour double pays that twice. We absorb it. No premium-area surcharge, and no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.
The tank is a heated bath bolted in the van, so shelves, racks, trays and side runners go out and soak. Indoors we work by hand with non-caustic products on the cavity, fan cover and door glass. Then the oven gets heat-tested, which matters more than it sounds in a flat where the oven and the smoke alarm are eight feet apart.

Fixed on the phone. The extractor hoods in the Imperial Wharf flats are the add-on we do most, at £28, because they recirculate through a charcoal filter rather than venting out, and they clog fast.

Do you go into the riverside developments?
Yes, regularly. Give the concierge our name and it saves ten minutes at the barrier.
The oven is integrated and I do not want the units marked.
It comes out on its runners, gets worked on, goes back. The units are why we hand-clean indoors instead of spraying anything.
Can you clean an oven the tenant has already tried on?
Yes, and we would rather you left it. Supermarket oven foam bakes into a brown film that takes longer to shift than the original grease did.
Weekend appointments?
Seven days. Saturdays fill first here, mainly tenancy check-outs off Wandsworth Bridge Road.
