London Oven Cleaners clean ovens on St George's Hill from £77. The cooker is rebuilt and lit for you to inspect, and anything not right is cleaned again.
The Iron Age hillfort at the southern end of St George's Hill, close to Camp End Road, has been a scheduled monument since 25 February 1948. Historic England lists it as a large multivallate hillfort, which means it is ringed by more than one line of bank and ditch.
The hill has a seventeenth-century date too. On 1 April 1649, by Gerrard Winstanley's own account, he and William Everard led a few people onto the hill to dig the common and sow carrots and parsnips; Elmbridge Museum says the group had grown to between twenty and thirty within days.
Large houses set back behind hedges
Elmbridge treats the estate as a special low density residential area. Its design guide describes large gated detached houses, mostly of two storeys and some with rooms in the roof, standing in wooded plots well back from the road and hidden by planting. Many of the houses Walter George Tarrant designed and built have been replaced by much larger ones, and the guide notes continuing demand for big replacement houses and extensions. Some of the older houses are listed. The roads include Golf Club Road, Warreners Lane, Cavendish Road and Old Avenue, whose water tower the council names as a local landmark.
A kitchen in a house of that size is more likely to hold a range cooker or a pair of built-in ovens than a single under the counter, and the bigger the cooker, the longer the visit:
- Double oven
- £110, about two hours on site.
- 90cm range cooker
- £143, two to three hours. The hob or the hood of a range is £48.
- 100cm range cooker
- £167 for the 100cm size.
Whatever the size, the racks, shelves and fan covers come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavities and glass are degreased by hand indoors on dust sheets. There is more on range oven cleaning on its own page.

St George's Hill Golf Club, opened in 1913
Harry Colt designed the golf course, and the club's history records Prince Alexander of Teck, its first president, opening it on 2 October 1913. From 1914 to 1918 the clubhouse was a Red Cross military hospital, where some 3,000 wounded were treated. Most of it burned down in 1920 after a fire started in the thatched roof. The course now has 27 holes, laid out as three loops of nine.

Arriving at the gate
Elmbridge's guide records that access to the estate is limited to residents and to visitors of its private tennis and golf clubs, so the van has to be expected. When you book, give us the house name and the road, and tell us what the gate will need from the driver. Then say where the van can stand. A space on the drive near the kitchen door saves the team time.
St George's Hill oven cleaning questions
Does the AGA have to be cold when you arrive?
Yes. Switch it off the evening before; a two-oven AGA is £143 and takes about half a day, and a four-oven AGA is £187. The aga cleaning page has the detail.
What happens to the racks and shelves?
They come out of the oven and are soaked and cleaned separately. The cavity and door glass are cleaned by hand, and the oven is put back together, heated and checked with you before the team leaves.
Does someone have to be at home?
Someone has to be at the house to let us in, and at the end to look inside the lit oven before we pack up. Tell us who it will be when you book.
Which town page covers the hill?
The estate has Weybridge KT13 addresses, and the town itself has its own Weybridge page.

What customers tell us
Once again a great job guys, I will see you in a couple of months.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
