Roxeth is far older than the suburb round it. The Victoria County History takes the name from a personal name, Hroc or Rook, and an old word for a pit or well, and in 845 it was apparently the name of fields that belonged to Greenford.
The old village on Roxeth Hill and Lower Road
By 1759 one main road ran the length of Roxeth, taking in Bessborough Road, Lower Road and Northolt Road; the VCH gives Roxeth Hill's older name as London Hill. After the fields were enclosed, 41 houses went up in Middle Row, and seven cottages and a school were built on the east side of Lower Road, backing on to it. By 1851 Roxeth had about 703 people in 147 houses. Christ Church came in 1862, a small flint, stone and brick church on Roxeth Hill designed by George Gilbert Scott, with a south aisle added in 1866; it is Grade II listed. By the 1930s, the VCH says, Roxeth "had been swallowed into the new dormitory area of South and West Harrow".
Today the old core is mostly flats. In the census area that covers Roxeth Hill, Lower Road and Middle Road (Harrow 029A), 48.2% of the 815 households lived in a purpose-built block in 2021 and 12.8% in a converted or shared house, and 44.9% rented privately. A small flat kitchen often has a built-in single oven, about 90 minutes on site.
Further north on Bessborough Road stands Roxeth Farm, which the VCH calls the oldest surviving building in Roxeth: a two-storey weatherboarded house of five bays under a hipped tiled roof, probably built about 1700. It has been listed since 1951 and stands among playing fields, where the road heads on towards West Harrow.
Grange Farm, an estate being rebuilt
West of Northolt Road, the Grange Farm estate went up in the 1960s: 282 homes built with fibreglass panels, according to Harrow Council. The council is replacing it with about 500 homes. Residents began moving into the first 89 in autumn 2023, and by March 2026 the blocks for Phase 2A had been demolished to make way for 45 affordable homes, up to 36 of them council homes.
In the census area round Grange Farm Close and Grange Farm Crescent (Harrow 027A), of 809 households in 2021, 44.0% rented from the council or a housing association, 32.8% from the council itself. Parking on Roxeth Hill and Lower Road
On the council's parking map (read on 5 October 2026), Roxeth Hill, apart from a short stretch at its east end, Lower Road and the Grange Farm streets lie outside the controlled zones. The map does mark a tiny zone, LR, at the foot of Lower Road, with seven permit bays controlled at any time, and Middle Road, with that east end of Roxeth Hill, falls in the Harrow on the Hill zone, HH. Signs on the street are what count, as the council's CPZ page says. The team needs somewhere to park near your door.

About 90 minutes for a single oven and about two hours for a double. A 90cm range takes two to three hours.
Where does the cleaning happen in a flat?
In your kitchen, normally. The racks, trays, side runners and fan cover come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity and door glass are cleaned by hand. Some teams have a heated tank on the van and use it when they can park close; otherwise everything is done in the kitchen, at the same price, so ask when you book.
