Parking on the peninsula
Southwark brought in the Rotherhithe Village controlled parking zone, the RV zone, in 2024, covering streets like Elephant Lane, Swan Road and Tunnel Road with permit and pay bays from 8am to 6:30pm on weekdays. The council has also flagged parking on the narrow roads near the Overground as a service-access problem. A couple of things help when you book:
- Whether your block has a visitor bay or loading spot near the entrance.
- The door or buzzer number; many wharf conversions set the entrance back from the road.
- For a gated development, how the van reaches the kerb.
Renters and move-outs near Canada Water
SE16 is largely a professional-renter market, and Canada Water station puts the Jubilee line and the Overground on the doorstep, which keeps the flats letting quickly and the end-of-tenancy cleans coming through the agents.
