Working Roding and around: Clayhall, Woodford Bridge, South Woodford

The doors we open most weeks:

Every make and model is welcome; each one links to its own care guide.

London Oven Cleaners clean ovens along Roding Lane North and South from £77. The oven is put back together and heated, you inspect it, and any corner still dirty is cleaned again.

Roding, the river's name, was also a Redbridge council ward from 1978 to 2018. At the 2018 boundary change its streets were shared out between Bridge, Clayhall, Fullwell and South Woodford wards.

Roding Lane North and Roding Lane South

Roding Lane North follows, more or less, an old lane that linked Hill House with the community at Woodford Bridge. The Baptist church on Roding Lane South began in 1932 as a free church that H. E. Borton of Wanstead built at his own expense on land given by P. E. Brand; it became Baptist in 1952. In 1973 the county history recorded a council sports ground of 32 acres on the west side of Roding Lane North.

1930s semi kitchen with a built-in double oven

Semis off Roding Lane North

The census area round Kensington Drive, Summit Drive and Rivington Avenue (Redbridge 009E, now in Fullwell ward) had 661 households in 2021, and 431 of them, 65.2%, lived in a semi-detached house. Across Redbridge the share was 27.0%. Most own their home: 77.8%, with 17.6% renting privately.

In a semi the kitchen is often at the back, and a refitted one may take a double oven. Doubles come in two shapes, and both are a £110 clean taking about 2 hours:

Built-in double
a tall unit at eye level, set in its own housing, with a full-size main oven below a top oven and grill
Built-under double
fits under the worktop below the hob, so the top oven is shallow and the main oven a little smaller

For either, the racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavities, fan cover and glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen. The double oven cleaning page has more.

Parking along Roding Lane

On Redbridge's permit zone map, the roads off Roding Lane North and nearly all of Roding Lane South lie outside any controlled zone. The exception is the stretch of Roding Lane South around IG4 5PD, which is in zone Redbridge A, a permit zone for Monday to Friday only. The council's map gives two sets of hours for it (8.30am to 6.30pm, and 7am to 5pm), so read the sign. On a weekday there the van needs one of your visitor permits.

A recent job: before on the left, after on the right

Said after the sign-off

Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.

HelenSW4

Once again a great job guys, I will see you in a couple of months.

AlexanderE4

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
