Reedham station opened as Reedham Halt on 1 March 1911, put there by the South Eastern and Chatham Railway on the branch to Tattenham Corner, 49 chains from Purley, which is 990 metres, and it sits against the overbridge carrying Old Lodge Lane. It was named after the orphanage up the hill, not the other way round.
The estate is younger than the road it stands on
Rev Andrew Reed founded the Asylum for Fatherless Children in Richmond in 1844, moved it to Stoke Newington and then Stamford Hill, and in 1853 bought a hillside estate on what is now Old Lodge Lane. The Lord Mayor of London laid the foundation stone on 5 August 1856 and the building, which could hold 300 children, was finished two years later. It closed in 1980. The site was sold and redeveloped, the proceeds set up the Reedham Trust, which still works out of the orphanage's old lodge building, and the ground itself now carries a housing estate next to St Nicholas School and Beaumont Primary School.

Housing put up on that ground from the 1980s onwards generally comes with a fitted kitchen and an integrated single oven under the counter, glass door, fan at the back.
