The Patmore Estate is 28 red-brick blocks put up in the 1950s, and it sits in SW8 and SW11 at once, which is why this page carries two postcodes. Queenstown Road runs north from there to Chelsea Bridge, crossing Battersea Park Road and then Prince of Wales Drive at Queens Circus. Queenstown Road (Battersea) station is about 560 yards off the estate. All of it is Shaftesbury and Queenstown ward, Wandsworth.
Two eras of kitchen, half a mile apart
The 1950s estate flats mostly have a freestanding cooker, sometimes a slot-in with a lift-up lid, and the ovens have been in a long while. Walk ten minutes north and you are in the Gehry Partners blocks at Battersea Power Station, where every kitchen is fitted with integrated appliances behind a matching door. Those are singles, £77, and the door usually splits cleanly because the units are new.
The Prince of Wales Drive mansion flats are the outlier. Bigger kitchens, and a 90cm range turns up often enough that we carry the trays for one.
Parking, and why we ask
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners come out and soak in a heated dip tank in the van, so the van has to be within carrying distance of your door. Queenstown Road itself is a bus route and not somewhere to stop. The Wandsworth zone here runs 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday with a maximum stay of four or seven hours, which is fine for us given a single oven takes about ninety minutes. The new towers are harder. Service lift, a loading bay you have to book, and a long push to the flat.
The towers churn faster than the estate
Nine Elms is heavily rented, with Dexters, Foxtons, Knight Frank and Battersea and Nine Elms Estates all working the same blocks, and the check-out inventories treat a marked oven as a deduction. That is the commonest reason someone in SW11 rings us. Landlord or tenant, the price list is the same.

Do integrated ovens have to come out of the housing?
Usually not. We work in situ, hand-degreasing the cavity, fan cover and glass with non-caustic products while the removable parts soak outside.
Will it smell?
No. Nothing caustic comes into the flat.
Can you clean a hob at the same time?
Yes, £23–28 depending on the type. Induction tops in the new-builds mark easily and come up well.
