Most of our NW6 diary is the Victorian and Edwardian terraces on Chevening Road, Harvist Road, Kempe Road and Keslake Road, the ones that went up around 1899 and later got carved into two or three flats each. That splitting is the local pattern that matters for us. A house that was one kitchen is now two or three, so a single street can hold a dozen separate integrated ovens rather than a few big family ranges. Freestanding cookers still turn up in the whole houses nearer the park, but the flats are the steady work.

A single takes about ninety minutes. Kilburn Lane is the boundary here, Brent to the north and Westminster to the south, and which side you are on changes the parking rules more than the oven.
Parking and the Brent zone
Parking is a real part of the day around here. The Brent controlled zone runs Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm, so outside those hours and all weekend the technician can pull up close, but on a weekday the van takes a pay bay and the racks get carried in. Salusbury Road is one-way southbound and rarely has a space, so Chevening or Harvist are the better bet. All of NW6 sits inside the ULEZ, and our van is compliant. There is no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.

In the converted flats the common booking is a single oven with a hob, sometimes an extractor over it. The whole houses nearer the tennis courts more often want the double oven cleaning at £110. Prices are fixed on the phone, not judged on the door.

Can you park near the Sunday farmers' market at Salusbury Primary?
Sundays are free for parking, which suits us. The market fills the school forecourt, not the side streets, so getting the van close is fine.
Do you work weekends here?
Seven days. Weekends book up first because the zone is off, so ask early.
