Prince Regent DLR opened on 28 March 1994, sits on the Beckton branch between Custom House and Royal Albert, and is signed for ExCeL East, the eastern end of the exhibition centre rather than its main doors. It takes its name from Prince Regent Lane, running north towards the A13. That road is the spine of the area. Nearly every job here is somewhere off it.

Custom House is mostly low-density post-war housing with high-rise rising nearer Royal Victoria Dock, so kitchens fall into two types. The older low-rise runs to a freestanding cooker or a single built-under oven. The newer flats are the integrated sort, single oven at eye level or under the counter, induction or ceramic hob, and hoods in flats of that build usually recirculate rather than vent outside, the kind that clogs quietly and gets ignored until the kitchen holds smells. An extractor hood clean is £28 on the same visit. The Custom House regeneration around Freemasons Road keeps adding to that newer column: 95 homes finished on the former William Patton site across Leslie Road and Freemasons Road, in blocks named Tillet House, Dellamura House and Lucy House, the wider scheme approved by residents in December 2022.
Event-day parking does not reach Custom House
Newham operates event-day parking rules that stretch permit-only hours to 8am until 9pm, triggered by West Ham home matches and other events at London Stadium and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. They apply to five zones: Stratford Central, Stratford North West, Stratford South West, Stratford South East and West Ham. Custom House is not among them, which surprises people given ExCeL is on the doorstep. Ordinary resident-zone hours apply here, and the bay sign is the authority.

Common questions in E16
Do you cover new-build flats with integrated ovens?
Yes, and much of E16 is exactly that. The oven stays in its housing. Only the racks, shelves, trays and runners come out to the heated tank in the van.
Is there a surcharge for the dockside?
No. The figure is the same everywhere we cover, dockside flat or terrace off Prince Regent Lane, and you get it on the phone before anyone sets off.
How long will you be in the flat?
About ninety minutes for a single, roughly two hours for a double. Add a little if a hob and hood go on the same booking.
Is the oven usable straight after?
Yes. It is heat-tested before sign-off, and nothing caustic goes inside the flat, so there is no smell to air out.
