Oven cleaning in Pitshanger, W5, seven days a week. Shelves and runners soak in a heated tank in the van. Single ovens start at £77.
Most of the houses off Pitshanger Lane belong to the Brentham Garden Estate, roughly 600 of them, built between 1901 and 1915 to a layout by Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin and made a conservation area in 1969. Brentham was the first co-partnership garden suburb in London, and an Article 4 direction has controlled what owners can change since 1976. That direction covers the outside. The kitchens behind those Arts and Crafts frontages have mostly been ripped out and rebuilt at least once, so what we open on Brunner Road or Winscombe Crescent is a modern cooker sitting in an Edwardian back return, and the run from the kitchen door to the street is longer than the house looks from the pavement.
Rebuilt kitchens, older houses
Because these are family houses that have been extended rather than divided, the cooker is often wide. A 90cm range is £114. A two-oven AGA in a Brentham house is £143, and the ones we get called to here tend to be in the larger properties towards Meadvale and Ludlow Roads. Where the kitchen is a genuine Edwardian one, untouched, the oven is usually a single at £77 and the extractor hood above it has been there longer than the owner.
The estate roads are narrow and tree-lined
Brentham was laid out for people who walked, so the roads are not wide and the parade on Pitshanger Lane fills up early in the day. Morning slots are easier here. Pitshanger Park gives us somewhere legal to sit if a street is full, and the walk with a tray of runners is short enough not to matter.

Does the conservation area affect the clean?
No. Article 4 is about windows, doors and roofs. The oven is not listed.
How long will you be here?
Ninety minutes for a single, about two hours for a double. The oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.
Will the kitchen smell of chemicals?
It should not. The caustic work is in the tank outside; indoors we degrease the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass by hand with non-caustic products.
Can you clean an oven that has not been done in years?
Yes, and that is most of what we do. Carbon that has been baked on repeatedly comes off in the tank rather than off the end of a scourer.

Said after the sign-off
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Once again a great job guys, I will see you in a couple of months.
I would certainly recommend this service, very efficient and good value for money. The young man did a great job and even cleaned the kitchen floor. Thank you.
