Most of our HA5 work is the 1930s Metroland semis on the avenues running out towards Hatch End and Pinner Green, the ones with the mock-Tudor gables and a bay window over the door. These houses tend to have a decent-sized kitchen and a driveway, so the van sits outside and the racks go straight into the heated tank without a long carry. Round the medieval High Street it changes. What the dip-tank clean covers
The shelves, trays, side runners and racks come out and soak in a heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are done by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so there is no chemical stink left afterwards. We split the door where the design allows to reach the film between the panes. Before we pack up, the oven is switched on, heat-tested, then signed off. A single takes about ninety minutes. A double is nearer two hours.
