The flats above the shopfronts
Most of the Piccadilly Circus work sits on the upper floors of Denman Street and Sherwood Street, above the shopfronts, reached by a lift at the back or a stair straight off the pavement. Land Securities has held the block covering 1-6 Sherwood Street and 17-22 Denman Street since the 1970s, and what sits behind those addresses runs from small studios up to listed duplexes on the fifth and sixth floors. Kitchens here are tight. Integrated 60cm singles are the norm, and the door glass is nearly always the part left longest.
Parking is the real constraint
Piccadilly itself is the A4, a TfL red route, so the van does not stop on it. North of the Circus we are into Westminster's zone G, where paid bays and single yellow lines are controlled 0830 to 1830 Monday to Saturday. Sub-zone G2 is the odd one, because the council's own tariff sheet lists no resident bays for it at all, which means there is no permit a resident can lend the technician and no quiet bay to drop into once the paid hours end at 1830. So we pay for a bay, or work off a red-route loading bay in its dotted-line hours.
How the clean actually runs
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners go down to the heated dip tank in the van. Cavity, fan cover and door glass are done by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so nothing smells of chemicals afterwards. Door split where the design allows, oven heat-tested, signed off before we leave. Ninety minutes for a single.

A single oven clean on Denman Street costs the same £77 as one in Enfield. No W1 surcharge, no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.

Questions we get from W1 callers
Do I need to be in for the whole visit?
Yes, or someone does. We need the kitchen, a tap and a socket, and the oven cold when we arrive.
Will the parking go on my bill?
No. The £77 is the £77. Whatever the van pays for a bay off Glasshouse Street or Brewer Street is our problem, not yours.
Can you do an end-of-tenancy clean at short notice?
Usually. Short lets and pied-a-terres around the Circus turn over quickly, and the calls come in with two days' notice. Sunday check-outs are fine.
My flat is listed. Does that change anything?
Not for us. We work on the appliance, not the building. Non-caustic indoors also means no fumes drifting into a communal stair.
If the block has a goods lift, say so.
