Penge East station opened on 1 July 1863 as Penge Lane and took its present name on 9 July 1923. The London, Chatham and Dover Railway built it in yellow stock brick, close to the south-eastern end of Penge Tunnel, and it has been listed Grade II since 1989. The old lane crossed the tracks on the level until 1879; after the crossing shut, traffic went round by Lennard Road and Parish Lane, and a covered footbridge went up a year later.

Bromley's residential permit table lists PGE (Penge) at 12 noon to 2pm Monday to Saturday and LIN (Linden Grove) at 12 noon to 2pm Monday to Friday. The council's permit page carries no date and does not say which roads sit in which zone, so the zone plate at the end of your street is the one to trust.
