Camden's Peckwater Estate runs to seven blocks: Aborfield, Appleford, Avingdon, Beedon, Cantelupe, Greatfield and the one everyone calls the Forties. Questions from the estate
Does the van need to be right outside my block?
Within reach of the door is enough. The heated dip tank stays in the van and the racks, shelves, trays and side runners are carried out to it, so a bay on Islip Street works as well as one at the entrance.
Do you use my sink or my hot water?
No. The tank is in the van and the water arrives with it. In a galley kitchen that matters, because the work indoors is done by hand on the cavity, fan cover and door glass, not round your worktop.
Will the flat smell of chemicals afterwards?
It should not. Nothing caustic comes inside, and the products used by hand indoors do not leave a fume behind them.
How long will you be in the flat?
About ninety minutes for a single oven, roughly two hours for a double. The oven is switched on and heat-tested before it is signed off.
