Eel Brook Common, the open ground between the two old village names, was manorial waste, much used for pasture and enclosed by a 12-foot ditch, before it passed to the Metropolitan Board of Works in 1881.
Terraces round Eel Brook Common
The council's conservation area profile says Parsons Green and Eel Brook Common were both wastes of the Manor of Fulham and are thought to have been the greens of two separate communities. It links the Common's name to the Eel Brook, long filled in, which ran along its western edge; the London Gardens Trust thinks Hillbrook, a hill with a brook, the likelier origin. There is an abrupt change in ground level between the Common and Musgrave Crescent, which the profile says is thought to be the result of a prehistoric earthwork.
Novello Street, renamed from Crown Street by 1916, is perhaps the oldest development here and its layout is already on the 1865 Ordnance Survey plan. Parthenia, Elthiron, Irene, Campana and Basuto Roads have two-storey terraces of much the same design, with the slight variations in banding, string courses and porch details that the profile expects of pattern-book building. Crondace Road has four substantial three-storey terraces, which the profile describes as either single homes or divided into flats, and most of Musgrave Crescent is three storeys, many with basements. On the corner of Harwood Road and New King's Road, Broxholme House is a 1930s London County Council block of four storeys and an attic over shops.
In a two-storey terrace the kitchen is normally at the back of the ground floor, so the walk from the front door to the oven is short. In the three-storey houses cut into flats it can be a flight or two.

A ward name retired in 2022
Parsons Green and Walham was a council ward until the 2022 elections, when an order of 2020 abolished all of Hammersmith and Fulham's wards and drew 21 new ones. The streets round the Common are now in Parsons Green & Sandford ward. At the 2021 Census it was the most terraced ward in the borough: of the 3,124 households in the housing-type table, 43.6% lived in a terraced house, 24.0% in part of a converted or shared house and only 21.7% in a purpose-built block. In the tenure table (3,121 households) 24.6% owned outright and 33.9% rented privately.

Parking in zones Q, QQ and S
On the council's map the terraces on the Parsons Green side of the Common (Crondace, Favart, Parthenia, Elthiron and Basuto Roads) are in zone Q, controlled Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Part of Novello Street is zone QQ, where the council's zone table allows no pay and display at all, only permit and visitor permit holders, for the same hours. Musgrave Crescent is in zone S: every day from 8.30am to 10pm, with an hour's limit at the meter. Outside controlled hours, parking in these zones is free.
