In March 1904 a builder, W. J. Edwards, asked Southgate council for permission to put up 94 houses in Ulleswater Road, almost the whole street. By about 1908 Old Park Road, Grovelands Road and Broomfield Avenue had filled up as well.

Parking for the van in Palmers Green
On the council's zone map as archived in December 2022, the streets round Devonshire Road, just east of the station, were controlled Monday to Saturday 8am to 6.30pm, and the Bowes Park zone to the south, which takes in Sidney Avenue, ran Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm. In August and September 2024 Enfield consulted on a Palmers Green East parking zone for the streets between Green Lanes, Hedge Lane, Hazelwood Lane and the New River, with proposed hours of 8am to 6.30pm, Monday to Sunday. The council then decided not to go ahead and said any new proposal would not be considered before the 2026/27 financial year. That year has started, so the signs on your road are the thing to check.
