Osterley House and its park were given to the National Trust by the ninth Earl of Jersey in 1949, and for part of Jersey Road, the old Scrattage Lane, the park wall still edges the road.
New housing in the grounds of Campion House
South of the Great West Road, the northern end of Thornbury Road belongs to Spring Grove, the estate Henry Davies laid out for villas in the 1850s. Davies built Thornbury House for himself and moved there in the 1860s. From 1911 it was a Jesuit house, renamed Campion House, and after the order left in 2005 the house, the sites of adjacent buildings and the grounds were redeveloped as housing in the early 2010s. Hounslow's Spring Grove appraisal calls this the Campion character area, on the west side of the north end of Thornbury Road.
The census area around this end of Thornbury Road (Hounslow 012D) had 748 households in 2021. Of those, 39.8% lived in a purpose-built flat and 32.2% in a semi, and 41.2% rented privately, well above the borough's 30.9%.
Flats of that age usually have an integrated oven, and some have a pyrolytic one. Either way the racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors, after the dust sheets go down.

Semis along Jersey Road and the Great West Road
North of the main road the houses are early 20th century and interwar. Hounslow's Osterley Park appraisal describes most of Jersey Road as early 20th century detached and semi-detached houses, often half-timbered in appearance, some developed when the new Underground station opened on the Great West Road in the 1930s (the Victoria County History dates that to 1934). It also records an interwar ribbon of two-storey semis and terraces along the north side of the Great West Road, with the park to its north. At the western end of Jersey Road, no. 135 is a much-altered 17th century house and no. 133 a possibly 17th century former barn, both listed Grade II.
A semi of that date may have had its kitchen extended at the back, and a bigger kitchen has room for a double oven or a 90cm range.

Parking in the Thornbury Avenue zone
Hounslow's parking map puts the northern end of Thornbury Road south of the Great West Road, Kilberry Close and part of Marbaix Gardens in the Thornbury Avenue area zone, controlled 10am to noon on weekdays only. Another part of Marbaix Gardens shows no zone at all. Further south Thornbury Road is in the Spring Grove zone, and north of the Great West Road it is in the Osterley Station zone, both 9.30am to 5.30pm on weekdays; part of Jersey Road is in a Jersey Road zone, 10am to noon, and most of the rest shows no zone. The council's own parking zone page warns that some new builds are barred from resident permits by a planning condition, so in a newer block, find out how visitors park and tell us when you book. Osterley oven cleaning questions
Is Thornbury Road in Osterley or Spring Grove?
Both names are used. The council's ward is Osterley and Spring Grove, Hounslow's appraisals put the Great West Road between the two, and the stretch south of it is in the Spring Grove conservation area, which runs down to Isleworth station on London Road.
Does a pyrolytic oven still need cleaning?
The cycle burns the residue off the enamel but leaves the hob, the hood and the gaps between the door panes alone, and the racks and runners usually have to come out first. Those parts are cleaned the way described above.
How long does a double oven take?
About two hours, and a single about 90 minutes. A 90cm range takes two to three.
Does the Thornbury Avenue zone apply at weekends?
Not on the council's map, which shows Monday to Friday, 10am to noon. A weekend visit costs the weekday price. Check the sign on your road, as the council asks.
