Old Coulsdon is the southernmost settlement in Greater London, 14.4 miles south of Charing Cross, and there is no station in it. Coulsdon South is 0.9 miles off. The 60, 404, 466 and N68 are what run through.

The designation covers Bradmore Green and Grange Park. Bradmore Green was part of the manorial lands of the Manor of Coulsdon, which the Abbey of Chertsey held from Saxon times until the dissolution in 1537; the village was Cuthraedesdune, Cuthred's Down, when Frithwald, the Saxon petty king of Surrey, gave the land to Chertsey in 675. St John the Evangelist stands at the east corner of the green, late 13th century with a 15th century west tower, extended off the south transept in 1958 by J S Comper. The Byron family held the land from 1783 until 1921 and members of it are buried in the churchyard.

Suburban Coulsdon went up quickly in the 1930s, spreading out from the town centre, and the mock Tudor of that decade is what a lot of Old Coulsdon still looks like from the pavement, down to the shopfront on the village stores. Inside it is more mixed: family houses with freestanding cookers in them, and a run of retirement flats around Mead Way where the oven is an integrated single under the counter. No. The price is quoted on the phone before we book and it stays there.
What actually leaves the house?
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners. They go into the heated tank in the van and come back in clean. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors.
Will the kitchen smell afterwards?
There should not be one. The soaking happens outside, and the products we bring indoors are non-caustic.
Can you do the hob and the microwave as well?
Yes. A hob is £23–28 depending on the type and a microwave is £22. Say so when you call and the time goes in the diary.
