The curving avenue that gives the place its name was laid out in the late 1850s between Tottenham High Road and the station, on land behind the Black House, a medieval mansion the dukes of Northumberland once owned, and it went up as villas for the upper middle classes. Almost none of that is left. Factories took the nursery gardens north of the station from the start of the twentieth century and the area stayed industrial until after the war, then over about fifteen years from the late 1950s the council cleared a medieval farmhouse, the dead factory sites and most of the villas, and built the Northumberland estate of slab blocks and terraces across the lot. The Percy family connection is also where Tottenham Hotspur got the Hotspur.

Slab-block flats and council terraces of that era were built with a compact galley or a small back kitchen, and the appliance in them is nearly always a single, freestanding or built under a worktop. Haringey has 1,027 council homes across the Northumberland Park estates earmarked for redevelopment under site NT4 of its Tottenham plan, so newer replacement flats with integrated ovens are working their way in alongside. Both get the same clean at the same fixed price. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak in the heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are hand-degreased indoors with non-caustic products, and the oven is heat-tested before sign-off.
The stadium rewrites the parking calendar
This is the only part of London we cover where the parking rules depend on the fixture list. Northumberland Park West is one of several zones under Haringey's event day controls, which run 5pm to 8.30pm Monday to Friday and 12 noon to 8pm on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays whenever there is an event at the stadium on the High Road. Worcester Avenue closes from 8am on matchdays and Park Lane from three hours before kick-off, with the bays on both suspended. If Spurs are at home, say so when you book and we will pick a slot around it.
