The new houses on College Road have flint fronts, built to reflect the character of the former flint wall on the cement works site, and a kiln uncovered when building began is now part of Kiln Pocket Park.
Harbour Village on the old cement works
Bellway is building Harbour Village on the cement works site at Northfleet Embankment West: 630 homes in all, 189 of them affordable. The first phase was 124 homes and a village green, the second 130 homes. The third is 273 flats in eight blocks by the river; in July 2025 Bellway said it hoped to have the first residents in that part during summer 2026. Gravesham Council has bought 34 of the phase 3a flats to let at affordable rent, with completion expected in spring 2027.
A flat in a new block usually comes with the kitchen fitted, often a built-in single oven under the hob and a hood above it. Racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately. The cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand in your kitchen, on dust sheets, and the door is split where its design allows.

Renting round Dover Road and Springhead Road
The streets round Dover Road are terraces and blocks of flats. Gravesham 001B, the census area that takes in Dover Road, Shepherd Street, Salem Place and Springhead Road, had about 790 households in 2021: 35.8% lived in a purpose-built block of flats and 30.1% in a terraced house. Only 36.8% owned their home. Another 34.1% rented from the council or a housing association, and 28.0% rented privately.
Six households in ten rent, and each time a tenancy ends the inventory clerk opens the oven. Letting agents can have the invoice addressed to the agency and photos for the checkout file on request, and keys for an empty flat can be collected by arrangement.
