North Ealing station opened on 23 June 1903 on the District Railway's new line to Park Royal, and it was the one station on that branch not rebuilt in the Holden style when the Piccadilly line took over in the 1930s.
The name can mislead. The station stands on Station Road, east of Ealing Broadway and about 550 metres along Queens Drive from West Acton, and the streets around it are in Hanger Hill ward. Pitshanger and Montpelier, further west, fit the name better.
Haymills houses on the old golf course
North of the station, the hillside was the grounds of Hanger Hill House, headquarters of the Hanger Hill Golf Club from 1901 to 1930. Colonel Wood, the freeholder, sold it in 1927 to Haymills Limited, whose architects Welch, Cachemaille-Day and Lander laid out an estate there. Building started in 1928, and Audley Road, Corringway and Beaufort Road already show on the 1930 map. The council made it the Hanger Hill (Haymills) Estate conservation area on 18 June 1996. Its appraisal describes detached and semi-detached houses of three to five bedrooms on plots two to three times the length of the house.
In the small census area around the station (ONS area Ealing 041C, which includes Station Road, Boileau Road and part of the Haymills estate), 41.7% of households lived in a detached house in 2021; across the whole borough it was 5.1%. Most owned their home (61.3%), and 36.9% owned it outright.
A three- to five-bedroom 1930s house can have a kitchen with room for something bigger than one 60cm oven.

Zone Z by the station, Zone O on the Haymills estate
Station Road, Boileau Road, Hanger Vale Lane and Golf Road are in Ealing's Zone Z, which the council lists as controlled from 10am to 11am and 2pm to 3pm on weekdays. Audley Road and Corringway are in Zone O, controlled from 9am to 10am and 3pm to 4pm on weekdays. Other restrictions are on the street signs, so check those too. Some houses here have a garage; if the team can use your drive, say so when you book.

Do you clean 90cm range cookers?
Yes, at £143, and it takes 2 to 3 hours. The racks and trays come out and are soaked and cleaned separately; the cavities, fan covers and door glass are degreased by hand indoors, and the doors are split where their design allows.
How long does an AGA take?
About half a day for a two-oven AGA, and it has to be switched off the night before so it is cool when we arrive.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes. We work seven days a week and charge weekday prices at the weekend. Zones Z and O list weekday hours only.
Do I need to be there?
Someone needs to let us in, and to look at the oven, reassembled and lit, before we pack up. If a corner is not right when you inspect it, we put it right before we leave.
