North Dulwich station went up in 1868 and is Grade II listed, as is the K6 telephone kiosk standing inside its portico. Charles Barry Jr designed it for the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway, and both station and viaduct were built to a standard the landowner insisted on, that landowner being Dulwich College, whose Architect and Surveyor Barry had been since 1858. The College's successor charity, the Dulwich Estate, still owns the freehold of roughly 1,500 acres here, and a Scheme of Management approved by the High Court in January 1974, under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967, governs what owners may do to their own houses.
Two postcodes, two kinds of kitchen
SE21 around Dulwich Village, College Road and Gallery Road runs to large detached and semi-detached Victorian and Edwardian houses. Kitchens at that scale are where range cookers and AGAs turn up, and a 90cm range is £114, with a two-oven AGA at £143. SE22 is another thing entirely. East Dulwich is Victorian terracing off Lordship Lane, much of it flats, which usually means one oven and £77. The North Dulwich Triangle sits between the two: Edwardian houses put up by the trustees of the Lett Estate to a high specification.
A parking zone shaped like the school run
The Dulwich Village zone, DV, does not run all day. It operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 9:30 and again from 3:00 to 5:00, over Townley Road, Calton Avenue, Gilkes Crescent and part of East Dulwich Grove. Two windows, nothing between them. East Dulwich's zone is the ordinary kind, 8:30am to 6:30pm. The Sunray Estate conservation area, taking in Sunray Avenue, Casino Avenue and Red Post Hill, runs south to the station itself.

Do I need Dulwich Estate consent for an oven clean?
No. The Scheme of Management covers alterations to the building. Cleaning an appliance is not one, and nothing we do touches the fabric.
Is an AGA really a different job?
Yes, and it is priced as one at £143 for a two-oven. The enamel and cast iron want handling differently from a fan oven, and nothing caustic comes near it.
Will the kitchen smell afterwards?
It should not. The heated dip tank is in the van, so racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak out there. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors, nothing caustic.
How long should I set aside?
Around ninety minutes for a single, about two hours for a double. The oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.

Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
