Icon Tower, the tallest of the four buildings of One West Point beside North Acton station, rises 184 metres to its roof. Planning permission came in 2017 and the scheme was completed in November 2022.
The towers around North Acton station
One West Point, first called Portal West, puts its four buildings round a shared courtyard. It is one of several tall schemes south of the station. Student halls came earlier: the University of the Arts opened a block called The Costume Store in 2012, on the site of the BBC's old costume collection, and Imperial College followed with the Woodward Buildings in 2015, for 689 students, and the 31-storey Kemp Porter Buildings, with 708 bed spaces, which topped out in 2019. North Acton Square opened between Victoria Road and the station in 2020.
The 2021 Census predates the finished towers. In North Acton (MSOA Ealing 015, the House of Commons Library's name for the census area), 53.4% of the 4,410 households in March 2021 lived in a purpose-built block of flats, 47.0% rented privately and 3.7% were in shared ownership; One West Point's flats were not finished until the following year.
A new flat usually has a built-in single oven under the hob, and some higher-spec blocks fit a pyrolytic model. In a new block the racks, trays and runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and upstairs the cavity, fan cover and glass are degreased by hand. A managed block may have a concierge and rules on where vans may stop, so give us the building name and the floor when you book.

Older homes off Wales Farm Road
Before the towers, this side of North Acton was mostly factories: by the mid 1930s the land north of Western Avenue was almost entirely built up with them. Victoria Road was laid out in 1901 and some terraces soon went up along it, and once Western Avenue was built the only new housing to its north was on the Friars estate and in Harold Road and Wesley Avenue, built by Harold Wesley Ltd for its workers. On the Friars estate the borough council built 64 flats in blocks of four, and a few semi-detached houses, in Conway Grove and Acorn Gardens off Wales Farm Road in 1932, then 52 flats and two houses in Canada Crescent in 1934. A flat of that age usually has a small kitchen with a freestanding cooker or a built-in single.
Parking in Zones CC, SS and MM
Portal Way, Wales Farm Road, Conway Grove, Acorn Gardens, Canada Crescent and Victoria Road between Western Avenue and the railway bridge are in Ealing's Zone CC, Gypsy Corner, controlled from 10am to 11am and 3pm to 4pm on weekdays. Harold Road and Wesley Avenue are in Zone SS, with the same hours. Joseph Avenue, on the Friary Park estate, is in Zone MM, controlled from 10am to 11am and 4pm to 5pm. The council says to check the street signs for anything beyond those hours, and a managed block may have loading rules of its own.

Can you clean a pyrolytic oven?
Yes. A pyrolytic single is cleaned like any other single, and it is worth booking when the self-clean cycle has stopped shifting the marks.
Is North Acton the same as Park Royal?
They run into each other. North Acton is mostly W3, while the industrial land to the north is NW10 and part of Park Royal. East Acton, to the south-east, has its own East Acton page.
I live on a high floor. Does that change anything?
