The towers of the Cambridge Road Estate went up after planning approval in 1967, the council's borough character study records, and the estate is now being rebuilt in phases.
The Cambridge Road Estate, from the 1960s towers to the rebuild
Kingston's own figure for the rebuild is 2,170 new homes, with the developer Countryside Partnerships (council news, 18 May 2026). Construction Enquirer reported in January 2022 that the estate being replaced was about 830 flats from the 1960s and 1970s, with a first phase of ten blocks, the tallest of them 12 floors; Countryside's announcement of May 2023 puts that phase at 452 homes. The council's May 2026 update says works on Phase 1C are due to start shortly and the planning application for Phase 2 has been submitted, so the rebuild is still under way.
An older council flat may well have a freestanding cooker. A new fitted kitchen usually has a built-in oven under the hob, sometimes with an extractor above it. The method is the same for both: racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors, on dust sheets.
In Norbiton ward 23.0% of the 4,164 households rented from the council at the 2021 Census, more than three times the borough's 7.1%, and 40.9% lived in a purpose-built block of flats.

Victorian villas on the C-roads
North of Kingston Cemetery, opened in 1855, most of the houses date from about 1900. The character study picks out Chatham, Chesham, Cobham and Clevedon Roads, which it calls the C-roads, for their late Victorian villas, and it singles out Cobham Road for two-storey houses with gabled bays running the full height of the front. To the south, the turn-of-the-century semis of Bonner Hill Road, Rowlls Road and Linden Crescent step down the slope and follow its curves, and the study rates that group an area of established high quality. The council had already built its own estate east of Gloucester Road by the 1930s.
A family house of that size is a likelier place for a built-in double or a wide freestanding cooker than a flat is. Allow about 2 hours for a double, and 2 to 3 hours for a 90cm range.

Parking for the van in Zone N
Nearly every street named on this page is in Kingston's Zone N: the four C-roads, Bonner Hill Road, Rowlls Road, Linden Crescent, Albert Road, Church Road, Norbiton Avenue and stretches of Cambridge Road and Gloucester Road. The zone has four sets of hours: the Norbiton central area is controlled Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 6.30pm; the Coombe Road shopping area Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6.30pm; and one of the two outer areas Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm. Kingston's street list does not say which area each street is in, so check yours on the council's parking hours page. The character study describes the C-roads as a sea of street parking.
If the visit falls inside zone hours, a visitor voucher is the usual answer: Kingston sells them for use wherever a resident's permit is valid, though not in every zone. Tell us the street when you ring.
Questions from Norbiton
My tenancy near Norbiton station ends soon. When should the oven be cleaned?
A day or two before the keys go back. We work seven days at the weekday price, and cancelling is free up to 24 hours before. The end of tenancy oven cleaning guide covers what inventory clerks look at.
Can the hob and extractor be done at the same time?
Yes. A single oven with the hob and extractor together is £117, and a double with both is £143. The extractor hood cleaning page has more on the hood.
Do I have to be at home?
Someone should see the lit oven at the end, because that inspection is the sign-off. Landlords and letting agents with an empty flat can arrange a key pick-up instead, with photos for the checkout file on request.
How long does a single oven take?
About 90 minutes on site.

Said after the sign-off
Brilliant clean, my oven looks like brand new. A 5 star clean.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
I would certainly recommend this service, very efficient and good value for money. The young man did a great job and even cleaned the kitchen floor. Thank you.
