In the early 1930s the London County Council bought Court Farm and built the Mottingham Estate on it: a 202-acre cottage estate planned at about 2,000 homes, with schools and a sizeable shopping centre of its own. The first houses were occupied in 1935.

Old Mottingham along Mottingham Lane
Before the estate, the main settlement lay along Mottingham Lane, where large houses such as Fairy Hall and Mottingham House stood, and the rest of the district was farmland. The railway came in 1866 with a station first called Eltham, later renamed Mottingham, and the West Park estate of larger houses was laid out in the 1880s. W. G. Grace moved to Fairmount on Mottingham Lane in 1909, the year after his last first-class match; he had a stroke while working in its garden, where he grew asparagus, and died there in October 1915. Parking zones in Mottingham

About 90 minutes for a cooker with one oven, and about two hours if it has two. Have it switched off in good time so it is cool when we arrive.
Do you work on Sundays?
Yes, seven days a week, and a Saturday or Sunday visit costs the same as a weekday.
