London Oven Cleaners clean ovens in Motspur Park from £77. Before we leave, the oven is reassembled and heated for you to check, and any corner that is not right is redone.
Motspur Park is named after a farm. Land here belonged to the Mot family in the 14th century, it was recorded as Motes Firs in 1627, by 1823 it was Motts Spur Farm, and the station that opened in 1925 fixed the name on the suburb that grew round it.
Adela, Seaforth and Claremont Avenues
Seaforth, Adela and Claremont Avenues, on the Merton side of the station, were among the first roads here to be built up. Seaforth Avenue was already laid out, and a few private houses went up on it in the early 1920s. Claremont Avenue had been laid out before the First World War with a sewer along its whole length, an advantage Tarling notes when Merton and Morden Urban District Council asked in 1919 to build 60 (later 62) council houses there; J.W. Ellingham, a Dartford builder, had the first eighteen ready by March 1921, short only of lighting and water. By 1924 Sidney Parkes was building in Adela Avenue too. Most of that history comes from John Tarling's articles for the Raynes Park and West Barnes Residents' Association.
Most homes here are houses, and most are owner-occupied. In the census area that includes Adela and Seaforth Avenues and part of West Barnes Lane, 69.9% of the 635 households lived in a terraced house at the 2021 Census and 20.6% in a semi; 83.2% owned their home and 12.6% rented privately.

Kitchens under the main roof
Tarling points to the change in house plans after 1918. A Tooting terrace of 1910 was about fifteen feet wide, with the kitchen and scullery in a rear addition a step or two down from the rest of the ground floor. A typical Motspur Park house of 1925 was at least twenty feet wide, with every room under the main roof; Tarling credits the change to Raymond Unwin, a member of the Tudor Walters committee whose 1918 report set housing standards. So the original kitchen is at the back of the house itself; many have since been extended, and the oven may be a built-in model under the worktop or a freestanding cooker.
Either way the racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen, and dust sheets go down before anything is taken apart. For a built-under or eye-level double, see double oven cleaning.
Motspur Park is split between Merton and Kingston
Motspur Park straddles two boroughs, and both use KT3 New Malden addresses.
- Merton side
- West Barnes ward: the station, West Barnes Lane, and Adela, Seaforth, Claremont, Phyllis and Tennyson Avenues.
- Kingston side
- Motspur Park and Old Malden East ward, south-west of the station, including the 28-acre athletics ground the University of London built, where Sydney Wooderson set a world mile record in 1937 and which Fulham FC bought in 1999 for training.
Southward, the branch line runs on to Malden Manor and Chessington.

Parking near Motspur Park station
On Merton's April 2026 list of roads in controlled zones, West Barnes Lane is split between zones RP and WB1, and Adela, Seaforth, Claremont, Phyllis and Tennyson Avenues are not on it. WB1 is permit-only, Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm, according to Merton's West Barnes zones page, which names no streets, so the sign at the end of your road is the quickest check. Let us know the street and any visitor permit when you book.
Motspur Park oven cleaning questions
My address says New Malden. Is that Motspur Park?
It may be. Both sides of the borough line here use KT3 New Malden addresses, so the postal town does not settle it; the price is the same whichever council you pay.
How long will a double oven take?
About two hours, and a single about 90 minutes. The oven is heated at the end so you can look inside before we go.
Can the hob and extractor be cleaned in the same visit?
Yes. A ceramic hob is £23, a gas hob £28 and an extractor £28, or a single oven with hob and extractor together is £117. Weekend visits cost the same as weekdays.

Reviews from our rounds
Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
Brilliant clean, my oven looks like brand new. A 5 star clean.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
