The Wood family was Ealing's largest landowner around 1850, and most of its property north and west of the town was meant for upper middle-class buyers; the Victoria County History thinks the area's assured social status explains why houses in Mount Park Crescent, Madeley Road and similar avenues sold well in the 1880s.

By the mid 1890s some houses also stood in Montpelier Road, Mount Avenue and Castlebar Park. The 2021 Census for the streets around Kings Road, Kings Avenue, Hillcroft Crescent and Mount Park Road (Ealing 041B) shows how far that went. Of 632 households, 36.2% lived in part of a converted or shared house, 32.3% in a purpose-built flat and 22.0% in a detached house. 45.1% rented privately and 47.0% owned.
A flat in a converted villa can be several floors up with no lift. That does not change the method: the racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand upstairs.

Two conservation areas cover much of this ground, both in Ealing Broadway ward. Montpelier Park was designated in 1982, extended in 1991 and 1997 to include Park Hill and Mount Avenue, and extended again in 2004 to include part of Woodfield Road, the road where Brentham began. Mount Park was designated in 1991, extended west in 1995 to include the area between Eton Rise and Castlebar Road, and extended in 2004 to include Queens Walk and part of Hillcroft Crescent.
Zone W parking on Kings Road and Montpelier Road
Kings Road, Kings Avenue, Hall Close, Hillcroft Crescent, Mount Park Road, Mount Park Crescent, Aston Road and Montpelier Road are all on the council's list for Zone W, Ealing Broadway, controlled from 9am to 10am and from 3pm to 4pm, Monday to Friday. A Saturday or Sunday visit is outside those hours, at the weekday price; the council asks drivers to read the street signs for any other restriction.

No. These streets are in Ealing Broadway ward, and Ealing's 2022 list of wards has no Montpelier. Montpelier is a small suburb a little way north of Ealing Broadway, and the name of Montpelier Road and of one of the conservation areas.
Our flat is up two flights of stairs in a converted villa. Does that matter?
Mention the floor when you call. The racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately; the rest is done by hand in the kitchen.
Can a letting agent book it for a checkout?
Yes. The invoice can be addressed to the agency, photos taken for the checkout file on request, and keys for an empty flat collected by arrangement.
