Montpelier Park stands on the nine acres that Princess Helena College moved onto in 1882, on a site the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, opened that July. The school is long gone and the ground is a park.
The villas here got divided up
The Wood Estate was laid out south of Montpelier Road between 1870 and 1890, large villas put up on what had been agricultural land while Ealing was selling itself as a green and healthy suburb with a quick train into town. The villas came first. What happened to a lot of them afterwards is the part that matters to us, because a house built for one family with a scullery at the back tends to end up as two or three flats, each with a kitchen fitted into a room that was never meant to be one. That usually means a single oven under a worktop, a compact extractor hood at £28 that recirculates through a filter rather than venting outside, and no back door to carry anything through.
What happens indoors and what does not
The heated dip tank never comes into the flat. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners are lifted out, carried down to the van and soaked there, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand upstairs with non-caustic products. In a conversion where the kitchen opens onto the room people sit in, that is the whole point: no caustic gel, no fumes sitting in the furniture, no chemical smell once we have gone. The oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave. A single takes about ninety minutes.

The flat is a first-floor conversion. Can you still do it?
Yes. Most of our work in converted houses is above the ground floor. Stairs cost us time rather than costing you money.
My hood filter looks worse than the oven. Is that separate?
An extractor hood is £28 on top of the oven. Recirculating hoods in conversions clog because the grease has nowhere to go, so it is worth doing at the same visit.
Do I need permission from the freeholder?
Not for cleaning an appliance inside your own flat. We are insured and DBS-checked if a managing agent asks.
Can you come at a weekend?
We work seven days. Say what suits when you ring and we will fit it, though Saturday mornings go early.
