Mitcham runs mostly interwar. The semis that fill the central roads around Cricket Green went up between the wars, private builders and the old Urban District Council estates both, so the standard job here is a built-in single or a freestanding cooker in a family kitchen with a few decades of use on it. The postwar estates change the picture a bit. Phipps Bridge, Eastfields and the flats up toward Pollards Hill are mostly integrated singles, and those are the £77 jobs.
The dip-tank clean, step by step
The removable parts, racks, shelves, trays and side runners, come out and soak in a heated tank in the van. The cavity, the fan cover and the door glass we do by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so your kitchen is not left smelling of chemicals. Where the door is built to split, we split it and clear the greasy film between the panes. Then the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we go.
Parking and the tram
Tramlink runs four stops through the area, Mitcham, Belgrave Walk, Phipps Bridge and Mitcham Junction, and the town-centre streets sit under controlled parking zones like MTC, MTC1 and MTC2. The Figges Marsh zones and the short midday-only MT zone catch a few roads too. On the estate parking near Phipps Bridge we load where we can and carry the parts across, which is normal for us.

My interwar semi near Cricket Green has an old cooker. Can you clean it?
We can. The tank takes off years of baked-on grease from the racks and trays that a sponge will not shift, and the enamel comes up better than people expect.
How long does a single oven take?
About ninety minutes. A double is closer to two hours because there is a second cavity and more glass to do by hand.
Is there any smell left afterwards?
There should not be. The strong soaking happens in the van, and the indoor hand-cleaning uses non-caustic products.
