Millbank runs two oven populations within one postcode
The Millbank Estate sits on Erasmus Street, directly behind Tate Britain: 550 flats across 15 houses, each named after a British artist, Ruskin and Turner and Gainsborough and Stubbs among them. It went up in the late 1890s as model housing, it is Grade II listed, and council tenants are still around 40 per cent of the residents while the rest went private under right to buy. Kitchens there are compact and the cooker is usually freestanding, 60cm, sometimes gas.
Then there is the river side of the road. Riverwalk at 157 to 161 Millbank holds 116 flats between Vauxhall Bridge and Tate Britain, and Millbank Tower, listed and 118 metres of 1963 glass, is being turned into homes as well. Those kitchens are integrated, induction on top, a single cavity behind a panel. Same street. Different job entirely.
The van cannot stop on Millbank itself
Millbank is the A3212, a red route, and between Lambeth Bridge and a point 44 metres north it is no stopping at any time on both sides, which is why anything on this stretch means loading in from Erasmus Street, John Islip Street or one of the estate courtyards rather than pulling up outside the front door. It adds a few minutes. It does not add anything to the price.

Racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak in a heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass get degreased by hand with non-caustic products, indoors, and the oven is heat-tested before we sign off. A freestanding cooker in a Millbank Estate flat and a panelled Miele on the riverfront get the same full oven clean and the same fixed price.
Can you do the estate flats with a gas cooker?
Yes, but it stays connected. We clean it in place unless a Gas Safe engineer has already pulled it out.
Is the listed status a problem?
No. Nothing we do touches the building. The tank never comes indoors and the products are non-caustic, so there is no smell in a shared stair afterwards.
How far ahead should I book a check-out clean?
A few days is usually enough. Inventory clerks around here tend to book the check-out for a Friday, so Fridays go first.
