Marks Gate is the estate cut off on the far side of the A12 Eastern Avenue, north of Chadwell Heath and inside Barking and Dagenham even though the post town is Romford. Dagenham council started building it in June 1951, and much of the housing is still council-owned, so most of our RM6 work here is a freestanding single cooker or an integrated single in a block. The name goes back to a gate into Hainault Forest by the old manor of Marks, at the top of Whalebone Lane North. Padnall Lake, the flood-storage basin at the southern edge, is the marker most people give us.
The oven on the estate
A single takes about ninety minutes, and it cleans the same whether it is a 1950s terraced house or a flat in one of the courts. The racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and soak in the heated tank down in the van, while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so nothing is left to air out. We heat-test the oven first. That is the single oven clean, and it covers nearly every kitchen here.

Getting across the A12
Marks Gate has one way in and out across the Eastern Avenue, so we plan the run to sit inside your slot rather than fight the A12 twice. Parking on the estate roads is easier than central Dagenham, but Barking and Dagenham has proposed extending controlled parking zones through the Chadwell Heath and Whalebone wards with emission-based permits, so give us the road and the block. Chadwell Heath station south of here has had the Elizabeth line since 2022. The estate is inside the London-wide ULEZ.

Is the oven usable straight after?
Yes. We heat-test it and sign it off before leaving, and the non-caustic products mean there is nothing to air out first.
Do you do end-of-tenancy ovens for the council homes?
We do. Outgoing tenants and the council book them between lets, and we sign the oven off for the inventory.
Can you add the hob and extractor?
Yes. A hob is £23–28 and an extractor hood is £28, added to the oven price.
