Manor Park station opened in 1872 because the people of Little Ilford petitioned the Great Eastern Railway for it, and it was rebuilt in 1893 to 1894.
Greenhill Grove and the first Manor Park houses
The first new houses went up in the 1850s and 1860s along the east side of White Post Lane, now High Street North, and in Greenhill Grove, on a small estate that had belonged to the Greenhill family. The county history describes yellow-brick cottages there and, in the 1960s, a row inscribed 'Chapel Place, 1864' next to a small chapel building registered about 1860. In about 1870 building began just north of Romford Road, and the new suburb took its name from the Manor House estate, which had belonged to the Fry family.
Some households live over shops. At the 2021 Census, 152 households in Manor Park ward (3.2%) lived in a commercial building, the census category that covers a flat over a shop. A flat like that is usually reached by its own street door and a stair. Parking in the Manor Park zone, Salisbury Road included
The streets round the station and Romford Road are in Newham's Manor Park parking zone. The council lists it with different hours on different streets: Durham Road and the streets round it are controlled Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and the rest of the zone, including Station Road, Herbert Road, Carlyle Road and Greenhill Grove, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Salisbury Road is the exception, controlled 24 hours a day. The council's pay-by-phone schedule gives the Station Road bay, opposite Nos 8 and 10, a 30-minute limit, too short for any oven.

Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
