Rushett was a detached piece of Malden parish, about five miles south-west of the rest of it, until 24 March 1884, when the area was transferred to Chessington. Kingston's borough character study says the 1868 map still calls it Lower Malden, and that the reverend of St John the Baptist in Old Malden walked fifteen miles between his church and Rushett's mission church, established in 1850, to take services.
A hamlet at the Fairoak Lane crossroads
Kingston's borough character study describes Malden Rushett as a compact hamlet round the junction of Leatherhead Road (the A243) and Fairoak Lane, the first settlement when entering the borough along Leatherhead Road. It began to establish itself at the end of the 19th century on the site of the Fair Oak Brick Yard, and the study finds little significant change since the 1868 Surrey map. The southernmost cottages, east of the road, are brick and render under slate roofs, set back behind wide grass verges, and a group of late Victorian gable-ended villas faces Silverglade Business Park.
Turn into Fairoak Lane and the houses are 1950s, behind long front gardens. Woodview, from the same decade, is a set piece of short formal terraces, and the semis on Fairoak Lane share its strong roofs, overhanging eaves and clay pantiles. Around them it is Green Belt farmland: Rushett Farm, whose farmhouse was listed Grade II in 1983, and Byhurst Farm hold most of the open land either side of the road.

The station that was never built
The Southern Railway's line from Motspur Park was meant to run on to Leatherhead with a stop at Malden Rushett. It reached Chessington South in 1939, the war halted the work beyond it, and after the war Green Belt rules meant little housing, so a station here would have earned very little and the work was abandoned. A strip of woodland, Chessington Wood, still marks the route.
Fairoak Lane and Woodview in the 2021 Census
The Census output area that takes in Fairoak Lane, Woodview and West Road had 162 households in 2021. Of those, 55.6% lived in semi-detached houses, 21.0% in detached houses and 21.0% in terraces; one household lived in a purpose-built flat. 79.0% owned their home. Semis and detached houses often have room for a double oven or a range cooker, and the price list below covers both.

Does a pyrolytic oven still need cleaning?
Parking off the A243
None of the controlled parking zones on Kingston's zone list (A to V) is this far south, though any yellow lines or signs still apply. The council's study notes cars parked on long driveways in front of the cottages and heavy peak-time traffic on Leatherhead Road. A space on your drive keeps the van off the main road. The racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately; the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand in your kitchen, under dust sheets.

Reviews from our rounds
Brilliant clean, my oven looks like brand new. A 5 star clean.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
