Malden Manor station opened on 29 May 1938, the day the new branch from Motspur Park reached Tolworth, and its concrete buildings were designed by James Robb Scott. The manor itself is far older: Malden's Manor House, listed Grade II, stands beside St John the Baptist church at the western end of Church Road in Old Malden.
The council estate along Sheephouse Way
Kingston's borough character study puts the centre of Malden Manor at a large landscaped roundabout, with the Manor pub, the station and the parade of shops on Manor Drive North set round it. The Sheephouse Way area stretches from Malden Road in the east to the Hogsmill River in the west, mostly on the north side of the railway, and it is largely post-war council flats and houses among generous landscaping. Four five-storey blocks look over landscaping that runs down to the Hogsmill Local Nature Reserve, with Tolworth Tower in the distance. Many of the houses back onto the line behind wide verges.
The 2021 Census shows how different this corner is from the ward around it. In the small census area (Kingston upon Thames 012B) that takes in much of Sheephouse Way, 27.4% of its 647 households rented from the council, and 42.9% of households lived in a purpose-built block of flats. Across Old Malden ward the council-renting share was 9.4%.

A council flat of that age usually has a compact kitchen, with a freestanding cooker or a built-in single under the hob. Upper floors mean stairs. The racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, while the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen, on dust sheets laid before anything is touched.
South of the railway at Malden Manor
Across the tracks the study picks out two small pockets with a character of their own. Stroudes Close is a cul-de-sac of flat-fronted 1950s semis set round a very generous shared green. Percy Gardens is 1990s: flats of up to four storeys and two-storey houses with open-plan fronts. Just south-west of the platforms, a three-span viaduct 140 feet long carries the line over the Hogsmill.
A family semi is the likelier home for a double oven. The two common kinds look different and cost the same, £110:
- Built-under double
- Two cavities stacked below the worktop, the top one small and usually holding the grill. About 2 hours on site.
- Built-in double
- Two cavities in a tall housing, at eye level. Also about 2 hours.
- Single
- One cavity, under the hob or in a tall unit. About 90 minutes.
The double oven cleaning page explains how the two cavities are handled.

Parking for the van near Malden Manor station
Kingston's parking page lists its controlled zones and permit parking areas, and none is named for Malden Manor; Sheephouse Way and Manor Drive North are not among the roads it lists. The page says large signs at the entrance to each zone or area give the restricted hours, so the sign at the end of your road is the one to trust. The team needs somewhere to park, and the road name helps us plan it.
Questions about oven cleaning in Malden Manor
Is Malden Manor in KT3 or KT4?
Both. The station and Sheephouse Way have KT3 5 postcodes, while parts of Manor Drive North south of the station are KT4 7. The price list is the same either side.
My flat is on the top floor of one of the blocks. Does that change anything?
Only the timing. Tell us the floor, and whether there is a lift, when you call.
I am leaving a rented flat near the station. When should the oven be done?
Once you have finished cooking in it, a day or two before the keys go back. We work seven days at the weekday price, cancelling is free up to 24 hours before, and an agency can have the invoice in its own name. The end of tenancy oven cleaning guide deals with deposits.
Can the extractor over the hob be done at the same visit?
Yes. The hood is £28 on top of the oven, or a single oven, hob and extractor together come to £117.

What customers tell us
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
I would certainly recommend this service, very efficient and good value for money. The young man did a great job and even cleaned the kitchen floor. Thank you.
Once again a great job guys, I will see you in a couple of months.
