Shepperton Studios is in Littleton, not Shepperton. The River Ash runs along the southern boundary and puts the studio lot on this side of it, taking up most of western Littleton along with the woodland the crews film in. Everything else is a village of about 700 people on 0.4 square miles, which is the smallest patch we quote on in this part of Surrey.
The reservoir is bigger than the village
Queen Mary Reservoir, started in 1931, covers 707 acres to the north, and most of that ground came out of Littleton. The village left behind measures roughly 256 acres. So the water body is close to three times the size of the place it was cut from, and the old civil parish, which held 918 people in 1951, was abolished outright on 1 April 1974. Heathrow is five miles north of here.
