This page's map pin and its TW17 0S postcodes, round Hetherington Road and The Harrow on Charlton Road, fall in Charlton. That is a separate hamlet to the east of Littleton church, sharing the Shepperton post town.

Three places that answer to Littleton

Littleton
The old village round St Mary Magdalene and Squire's Bridge Road, with Shepperton Studios off Studios Road on its west side. Postcodes TW17 0Q.
Charlton
The hamlet on Charlton Road to the east, which historically belonged to Sunbury parish. Postcodes TW17 0R and 0S.
Littleton Common
North of Charlton, up the east side of the Queen Mary Reservoir on Littleton Road and Ashford Road. Its postcodes are TW15, the Ashford post town, though Littleton parish once took in a Littleton Common along its northern edge.

The reservoir opened in 1925. The old road from Ashford Common to Littleton did not survive it: the 1962 Victoria County History says it was destroyed, and a local history says it was diverted.

Littleton village and the studio land

In 1911 the Victoria County History called Littleton one of the least spoilt villages in the county: almost all red brick, clustered round the church, and without a pub or a shop anywhere in the parish. St Mary Magdalene has 12th-century origins and is listed Grade I; its two north chapels, added in 1705 and around 1730, were built as burial chapels for the Wood family. On Squire's Bridge Road the Old Manor House, listed Grade II*, is a timber-framed hall house with a 15th-century east wing.

The Woods' own house burnt down in 1874. Their park passed through other hands until Norman Loudon bought it in 1931 for the Sound City film studios, today's Shepperton Studios. By 1974, according to a 2022 history in Village Matters, the studio backlot had been sold for housing and the grounds along the River Ash had become a public park.

Village cottage kitchen with a freestanding cooker

Charlton's post-war houses

Until the 1950s Charlton was a fairly remote, completely rural hamlet. The 1962 Victoria County History found many houses going up there in 1959, new factories to the north and a single shop, and noted that Charlton Road still crossed the River Ash by a deep ford, with a footbridge beside it.

The census area that takes in Charlton and the old village round the church (Spelthorne 012B, a lower-layer area) had 658 households at the 2021 Census. Almost all were houses: 45.8% semi-detached, 23.7% detached and 23.1% terraced, with flats at 5.5%. 44.7% of households owned their home outright. Kitchens in 1950s houses were usually planned round a freestanding cooker, and a refit may have swapped it for a built-in oven, so say which you have when you ring. A single takes about 90 minutes and a double about two hours.

Flats and lettings at Littleton Common

At Littleton Common the mix flips. In the census area round Littleton Road and Ashford Road (Spelthorne 006E), 57.7% of the 931 households lived in a purpose-built block of flats at the 2021 Census, and 36.5% rented privately. With that many lets, tenancies end all through the year, and the oven is one of the things a checkout clerk opens.

Letting agents can have the invoice made out to the agency, photos of the finished oven for the file, and keys collected for an empty flat by arrangement. The guide to oven cleaning and tenancy deposits covers what clerks look for.

Parking for the van round Charlton Road

Spelthorne's list of council car parks has none in Littleton or Charlton, so the van needs a drive or a space on the road. From 1 April 2027 the roads pass to the new West Surrey Council, which replaces both Spelthorne and Surrey County Council; Spelthorne's own page lists roads among the services it takes on. Whoever runs them, the signs on your street decide where the van can stop. Racks and trays come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are done by hand indoors on dust sheets.

Littleton oven cleaning questions

My address says Shepperton. Is this the right page?

Yes, if you live in Littleton or Charlton: both use the Shepperton post town and TW17 postcodes. A Littleton Common address will usually read Ashford, TW15.

Our cooker is a freestanding one, years old. Can it be cleaned?

Yes. The removable parts still come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the inside is degreased by hand.

Can my letting agent book for a flat at Littleton Common?

Yes. The invoice can be made out to the agency, and keys can be collected for an empty flat by arrangement.

What do you need on the day?

A working socket, the oven cool when we arrive, and somewhere for the team to park.

What customers tell us

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.

JoanaTW13

Brilliant clean, my oven looks like brand new. A 5 star clean.

ClaraSW15

Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
