Oaks Park and the lavender on Croydon Lane
West of the estate, Oaks Park covers 33.57 hectares of chalk meadow, woodland and gardens, with entrances off Croydon Lane and Woodmansterne Road. It was the grounds of The Oaks, a castle-like house demolished in the late 1950s, and a Lord Derby named one of the Epsom races after it. On Croydon Lane, just inside the same ward, Mayfield is a 25-acre commercial lavender farm.
