The big roundabout opposite Lewisham's railway and DLR stations has gone. The Lewisham Gateway scheme, led by Muse and the rental company Get Living on land the council provided, replaced it with a new road layout, blocks of flats and Confluence Place, a new park where the Ravensbourne meets the Quaggy.
A ward of rented flats
Lewisham Central is the ward that takes in the town centre, and since the 2022 boundary changes it has two councillors. The Boundary Commission counted 4,937 voters there in 2019 and forecast 7,881 by 2025. At the 2021 Census, 2,790 of its 3,804 households (73.3%) lived in a purpose-built block, and only 9.9% had a terraced house. Renting privately was the commonest tenure: 1,831 households, or 48.1%, against 25.2% who owned their home.
The Gateway adds more. Its first phase put up 193 private homes in Building A and 169 in Block B. The second phase is 649 homes for rent, including 106 at affordable rents and 119 co-living studios of about 25 square metres, with shared rooms elsewhere in the building. In the town centre, Landsec's plan to rebuild Lewisham Shopping Centre with new housing, a park and a live music venue was approved by the council's Strategic Planning Committee on 16 October 2025.
In blocks like these the oven is usually built in under the worktop, with the hob above it and a hood in the same run of units. All three can be done at one visit:

Parking in zones B1 and B2, with Sundays in B2
Since 27 October 2025 the old Lewisham Central zone has been two. On the council's map, B1 is two blocks of streets, one north-west of the centre (Loampit Vale, Elswick Road) and one north-east (Lewisham Hill, Granville Park, Belmont Hill, Mercator Road), and is controlled Monday to Saturday, 9am to 7pm. B2, Lewisham Central Southern, covers Molesworth Street, the High Street, Clarendon Rise, Courthill Road and Lewisham Park, with the same hours plus Sunday from 9am to 1.30pm. The council's zone table has both. A Sunday afternoon visit, at the weekday price, falls outside the hours of both zones; on other days the team needs somewhere to park.

Yes, at the weekday price. B1 has no Sunday hours, and B2 is controlled only until 1.30pm.

Only access to the kitchen, a working socket and somewhere for the van nearby. If the block has a concierge or a loading bay, tell us when you book.
Is Lewisham Park in Lewisham Central?
For parking, yes: the street called Lewisham Park is in zone B2 on the council's map. A postcode on it, SE13 6QN, sits in Ladywell ward, though, so zones and wards do not line up. Go by the signs on the street.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
