Leamouth is a peninsula with water on three sides, and you reach London City Island over a red footbridge from Canning Town station. There are 1,706 apartments and townhouses across nine blocks on the Island, the English National Ballet moved its headquarters here into the Mulryan Centre for Dance, and Goodluck Hope is adding 804 more homes on a former dockyard next door. Trinity Buoy Wharf sits at the tip with London's only lighthouse and a yard full of studios.
Everything here was fitted at once
This is not a place with a Victorian layer under it. The kitchens went in new, which means one integrated oven in most flats, at £77 and around ninety minutes, with a hob at £23–28 and a hood at £28 if you want them at the same time. The townhouses are the exception worth flagging, at four and six storeys, where a kitchen built for a whole house can carry a 90cm range at £114 or two cavities at £110. The bridge is the thing to mention
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners come out of your oven and go down to the heated tank in the van, then come back up when they are clean, so the walk between the van and your door is part of the job rather than an afterthought. On a peninsula reached by a footbridge, with lifts on both sides of it, that walk is worth a sentence when you book. Tell us the block and the entrance. Meanwhile the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, and the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.

Is there a surcharge for the Island?
No. Leamouth is inside the North and South Circular, so there is no call-out fee and no premium for an E14 address.
The oven is only two years old. Is it worth it?
That is your call. A newer oven usually cleans up quickly, and the price is the same £77 whatever its age.
Will the flat smell of chemicals afterwards?
It should not. The caustic soak happens in the tank in the van, not in a kitchen that opens onto the room you sit in.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
