Knightsbridge is split between two councils: the park side of the road and the streets just south of it, Knightsbridge Green and Trevor Square among them, are Westminster, while the top of Sloane Street, Seville Street and Basil Street are in Kensington and Chelsea.
Flats on the park side
One Hyde Park, beside the Mandarin Oriental, has 86 flats and duplexes in four pavilions of up to 13 floors, with shops along the Knightsbridge frontage. Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners designed it, and work ran from 2003 to 2011. Further east, the two stuccoed Italianate houses either side of Albert Gate were built by Thomas Cubitt, from 1843 to about 1845. A flat fitted out around 2011 will usually have built-in appliances, so expect a single or a double oven set into the units.
The Westminster Census area that takes in One Hyde Park, Knightsbridge Green, Trevor Square and Montpelier Square (Westminster 019G, which also runs west to Kensington Gore) had 732 households in 2021. Almost half, 49.0%, lived in a purpose-built block of flats; 23.6% lived in a terraced house and 19.0% in part of a converted or shared house, and 51.2% rented privately. Across the boundary, the Census area at the top of Sloane Street around Lowndes Square and Seville Street (Kensington and Chelsea 012A) has more flats and more renters: 70.1% in purpose-built flats, and 70.2% of its 719 households renting privately.
Trevor Square and Montpelier Square, south of the road
South of the road the scale drops. Building on Trevor Square began in earnest in about 1818 or 1819, on ground laid out on the advice of the architect William Fuller Pocock, and the terraces are yellow brick with channelled stucco. Montpelier Square, a short walk west, was built over nearly three decades from 1824. The Survey of London calls the 1889 particulars of No. 13 typical of the houses then: the basement held two kitchens and a scullery. John Galsworthy gave Soames Forsyte the fictional address of No. 62 here.
A house of that plan has its kitchen either in the basement or moved up a floor in a later refit. Either way the racks, trays and runners are taken out for a separate soak and clean, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are worked on by hand where the oven stands. If your oven is in the basement, mention it when you call.

Parking for the van on either side of Knightsbridge
Knightsbridge and Brompton Road are Transport for London red routes, so the van needs a side street, and the rules depend on which council owns the kerb.

A single oven takes about 90 minutes, longer than any of those loading limits, so on a weekday the van needs a paid or pay-by-phone bay, or on the Westminster side a trade permit. On Sundays the pay-by-phone bays in Kensington and Chelsea are free.

Roughly, the park side of Knightsbridge and the squares just south of it (Trevor Square, Montpelier Square) are Westminster, and Sloane Street, Basil Street and Hans Town are Kensington and Chelsea. The boundary does not follow Knightsbridge itself, so the street name settles which council's rules apply.
Can you come on a Sunday?
Yes, for the weekday price. On the Westminster side the paid bays are uncontrolled on a Sunday, and in Kensington and Chelsea the pay-by-phone bays are free.

Tell the porter the date, and tell us about any service lift or loading bay. The oven should be cool when we arrive, with a working socket nearby.
