Flats on the old Grosvenor Canal
Grosvenor Waterside is built round the last stretch of the Grosvenor Canal. Into the 1990s barges were loaded with refuse here and towed away down the Thames, which made it the last canal in London still doing commercial work; the lock and the inner basin are now a main feature of a scheme of private and affordable flats. Parking by Chelsea Bridge
Grosvenor Road along the river is a Transport for London red route. Ebury Bridge Road and Gatliff Road are in Westminster's sub-zone A2, where paid bays and single yellow lines are controlled from 8.30am to 6.30pm on weekdays and until 1.30pm on Saturdays, and resident bays from 8.30am to 10pm, Monday to Saturday. Westminster gives no visitor permits for street parking, and a working van may only load in a bay for 20 minutes in controlled hours, so on a weekday the van needs a paid bay or a trade permit.
