N1C is a postcode that did not exist until the railway land was rebuilt: roughly 1,700 homes across a 67-acre site, plus Coal Drops Yard and the offices. Almost every oven inside it is therefore newer than the postcode. Gasholders alone put 145 flats inside the restored Victorian cast-iron guide frames, and the Plimsoll Building above Handyside runs to two and three-bedroom flats over Gasholder Park and the canal.

The larger flats in the canalside blocks often carry a built-in double, or an oven with a combination microwave stacked above it in the same housing, which is a double oven clean at £110 and takes about two hours. Both cavities get done, both door glasses, both sets of shelves.
The tank stays in the van
Shelves, racks, trays and side runners are carried out and soaked in a heated tank in the van, and everything left in the kitchen, the cavity, the fan cover, the door glass, is degreased by hand with non-caustic products, which is the part that matters when you live in an open-plan flat where the kitchen is the living room and there is nowhere for a smell to go. The oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.

You are just outside the Congestion Charge
The zone stops at Euston Road and Pentonville Road, and the ring road itself is not in it, so a van working N1C or the streets north of the station pays the ULEZ and the meter but not the £18. It saves nothing on your bill, because the price is fixed on the phone either way, with no premium-area surcharge and no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular. Private rental is the commonest tenure around here. Tenancies end, and ovens get inspected.

Can you get to a flat with underground parking only?
Usually. The van needs a street bay rather than the car park, since a dip-tank van is tall and height barriers rule out most undercrofts.
What about the hob and extractor?
£23–28 for the hob, £28 for the hood. Booked together with the oven they save a second visit.
Is there a smell afterwards?
No. Nothing caustic is used indoors.
