Kenton Road is the borough boundary. HA3 0XY, on the road's south side near Gooseacre Lane, is in Brent's Kenton ward, while HA3 9EF, almost opposite, is in Harrow's Kenton East ward. The Brent side runs south from the road towards Woodcock Park and the Mount Stewart estate.
Semis and detached houses south of Kenton Road
Kenton grew fast. Brent's archive history counts 268 residents in 1921 and 6,171 in 1931, and says the stretch of Kenton Road from the Plough to Woodcock Hill changed drastically between 1925 and 1933. From 1934 the land south of the road was run by Wembley and the land north of it by Harrow; the road still divides the two boroughs.
Most of Kenton was built between the wars. In the census area the House of Commons Library names Kenton Woodcock Park, 52.1% of the 2,494 households in 2021 lived in a semi and 23.9% in a detached house, while only 1.8% had a terraced house. Across the road in Harrow's Kenton East ward, a third of households (33.6%) lived in a terrace.

The Mount Stewart estate off Woodcock Hill
Mount Stewart sits on the ridge between Woodcock Hill and Preston Hill, less than a kilometre north of Preston Road station. The land was part of the Lyon Farm estate, whose income had helped keep up Harrow School since the 17th century. The school sold it in the 1920s and 1930s boom to the builders F and C Costin, and the roads were named after prominent Harrovians, among them Lord Mount Stuart and the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury.
Costin wrote rules into the title deeds: semis and detached houses only, and no more than three detached houses or two pairs of semis of the same design close together. That is why the estate has no bungalows and why the plots have frontages of more than thirty feet. The houses came in named patterns, Mayfair (detached) and Langham (semi) being the commonest. Brent made the area a conservation area on 11 January 1993.
The council's appraisal notes that most front gardens on the estate have been paved for cars. If your house has a drive, say so when you book, as the team needs somewhere to park. The racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are cleaned by hand in the kitchen.

Parking on the Brent side of Kenton Road
Brent's map of controlled parking zones shows no zone on the residential roads between Woodcock Hill and Gooseacre Lane or on the Mount Stewart estate, and none of them is in the Wembley event day zone. The council's pay and display area round Kenton station is controlled 8am to 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Harrow's own map leaves the streets around Kenton Park Avenue, on the north side, outside its zones as well. The signs on the street decide it on the day, so tell us the road when you call.
