Mansion blocks and mews
A good half of our Kensington work is inside the tall red-brick mansion blocks around Queen's Gate and Cornwall Gardens in SW7, the ones with a portered entrance, a lift, and high-ceilinged flats set several floors up. The oven itself is ordinary; the practical fact of the job is the distance the racks travel down to the van and back. The other half is smaller and older: the mews houses of the Phillimore Estate up in W8, streets like Phillimore Walk and Drayson Mews, once stables and now compact homes with a small oven fitted into a tight run. Off High Street Kensington and up Campden Hill the stock shifts again to period houses and conversions.
The oven in a fifth-floor Cornwall Gardens flat is easy; getting the racks to the van is the real work.
How the clean runs
The racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van. Indoors the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand with non-caustic products, so no chemical smell is left behind, and where the door design allows we split it to clean between the glass. The oven is heat-tested and signed off before we go. A single is about ninety minutes; a double closer to two hours.
Parking and getting to the flat
Parking and access are the two things we plan around in Kensington. The mews of the Phillimore Estate are narrow with almost no room to turn, and the mansion blocks near Queen's Gate rarely have a bay at the door, so we leave the van where we can and carry the lift-out parts. Kensington Church Street is lined with antiques shops and its loading spots go early. The whole area is a controlled parking zone with restricted daytime hours. Because the tank stays on board, a bay a short walk off is not a problem, and W8 and SW7 have sat inside the ULEZ since October 2021, which our vans meet.

Prices are fixed on the phone with no premium for a W8 or SW7 address, and no call-out fee inside the Circulars. If the flat has two cavities, a double oven clean is £110 whichever floor it is on.

Common questions
Does a top-floor mansion flat cost more?
No. The price is set by the oven, not the floor. A single is £77 whether it is a ground-floor kitchen or a fifth-floor flat off Queen's Gate.
Can you park in the Phillimore mews?
Usually near enough. The mews are narrow, so we often leave the van on a wider street and carry the racks the short way in.
Do you clean AGAs and range cookers here too?
Yes, in the larger houses up Campden Hill and off the High Street. A 90cm range is £114 and a two-oven AGA £143, neither cleaned with caustic.
Is there a call-out fee?
No, not inside the North and South Circular, which covers all of W8 and SW7.
