Ingatestone High Street is the old Roman road from London to Colchester, and in 1768 the historian Philip Morant noted that the town consisted largely of inns. It did best as a coaching stop in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, which is why so many of its fronts are plain Georgian brick with sash windows.

Parking near the High Street
The council's 2008 appraisal records parking controls on the High Street, marked with narrow yellow lines; the signs on the day are what count. Brentwood council runs two free car parks in the village, Market Place and Bell Mead, and both limit a stay to two hours, with no return within four, from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. A single oven takes about 90 minutes and a range two to three hours, so if you live on the High Street, tell us where the van can stand. Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
