The whole estate went up in twenty years, to one design
Emmanuel College, Cambridge owned this ground from the 1580s and sold it for building between 1896 and 1916, which is why the streets between Hydethorpe Road and Emmanuel Road all went up to one design under one builder, Edward Hyde Dashwood. Telferscot Road is named after Telfor's Cottage, a property on the old farm. Emmanuel Road carries the landowner's name. Red brick, bow windows, the same rear layout street after street.
Two front doors usually means two ovens
Most of these houses were built as cottage flats: an upstairs flat and a downstairs flat under one roofline, each with its own front door and kitchen. One address, two ovens. The rooms are small, so a 60cm cooker or an integrated single is the norm, and a 90cm range only appears where somebody has taken the back wall out into a side return. If yours is the standard fit, the single oven clean is what you want.

The Article Four Direction shows up in the doorway
Lambeth designated the conservation area on 13 February 1996 and added an Article Four Direction in 2002, which stops owners swapping doors and windows without consent. Original porches survived because of it. They are narrow.

Will the flat smell of chemicals afterwards?
No. Nothing caustic comes indoors. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand with non-caustic products, and the harsh work happens in the tank in the van.
Do you split the door glass?
Where the design allows it, yes. If yours does not come apart safely, the inner glass still gets cleaned in place.
Can you clean both flats at one house on the same morning?
Yes, if both are booked. Each oven is priced separately at £77.
Do you check the oven works before leaving?
It gets heat-tested and signed off with you there. Any fault we find, you hear about it then.
