Hunton Bridge is thought to have grown up from early coaching routes and the crossing of the River Gade, and the council's conservation area appraisal says the Grand Union Canal opened in 1800. Three Rivers' planning committee resolved to make the old centre a conservation area on 28 June 1984, and it was extended in 1990.
Canal cottages and the Langleybury estate
The council's 2008 appraisal says that, beyond a few older buildings, most of the conservation area dates from the 19th or early 20th century, tied to the canal and to the development of the Langleybury estate after the house and land were sold to William Jones Loyd in 1856. Some buildings still have the estate's porches, timber-framed with slate tiles. The terraced cottages on Bridge Road and Brookside Cottages on Old Mill Road are in the conservation area; the Kings Lodge, which the appraisal traces to the late 15th century, is older.
The A41 dual carriageway and the canal run side by side through the conservation area, separating the main core of the village from St Paul's church. The A41 meets the M25 at junction 20, just under a kilometre north-west of Bridge Road. Kitchens in cottages of this age tend to be small, and a slot-in freestanding cooker is a likely fit.
Flats around Wharf Way
In 2008 the appraisal recorded the land north of Bridge Road, a malthouse, brewery and pub until about 1948 and later a Carlsberg Tetley site, as being redeveloped for housing. At the 2021 Census the small output area around Wharf Way, off Bridge Road, had 140 households, 91 of them in purpose-built flats. The wider statistical area (Three Rivers 003C), which also takes in Hunton Bridge Hill, Hamilton Road and Lauderdale Road, had 787 households, with semis the commonest home at 39.3%.

Parking by the canal
Three Rivers' permit zones list, dated July 2025, has no street in Hunton Bridge. Tell us when you call where the van can stand. Racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
