Hounslow Central station on Lampton Road opened on 1 April 1886 as Heston and Hounslow, and took its present name on 1 December 1925, when the other two Hounslow stations on the line were renamed as well.
A rented neighbourhood by the station
The Victoria County History records that the Bulstrode estate, north of the High Street, was laid out in 1881 and that the railway that is now the District line reached Hounslow in 1883. The station is on Lampton Road, about 500 m north of the High Street. In the census area on Lampton Road around it (Hounslow 018A), most homes are flats: 53.1% of the 985 households lived in a purpose-built flat in 2021 and another 13.6% in a converted or shared house. Half of them, 51.2%, rented privately.

Shared houses and the new licence
Since 11 December 2025 Hounslow has required licences for shared houses across the whole borough, under an additional licensing scheme the council designated on 11 September 2025.
A shared kitchen usually means one oven used by several people. New flats beside Lampton Park
North up Lampton Road, the old civic centre site beside Lampton Park is being rebuilt as housing; the developer puts the new flats four minutes' walk from the nearest tube. In 2021 Hill and Notting Hill Genesis announced Lampton Parkside, 780 homes (563 for sale and 217 affordable) designed by Allies and Morrison, with full completion then planned for 2029. The developer promises fully integrated kitchens, which usually means a built-in oven, so a single oven clean is the likely job.

Hounslow Town Centre North parking zone
Hounslow's parking map puts the station end of Lampton Road in the Hounslow Town Centre North zone, controlled 9.30am to 6pm on weekdays and 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays. Saturday afternoon and Sunday fall outside those hours on the map, and a weekend visit costs the weekday price. The council warns that some new developments cannot buy permits, so if your block has no visitor parking, say so when you book; the signs in the street are what count.

Can you come on a Sunday?
Yes, seven days a week, at the weekday price. Sunday is also outside the zone's hours on the council's map.
Where is the oven cleaned?
The removable parts come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity, door glass and seals are cleaned by hand, normally in your kitchen. Some teams have a heated tank on the van and use it when they can park close; otherwise everything is done in the kitchen. The price is the same either way, so ask when you book.
How long is the visit?
About 90 minutes for a single oven and about two hours for a double.
