Horn Park was one of three parks attached to Eltham Palace, wooded and stocked with deer until both were destroyed during the English Civil War. A manor called Horne is documented in 1242 and the park of Horn in 1481, so the name is seven centuries older than any kitchen on it. The land stayed farmland until 1936.
Woolwich built it, Greenwich keeps it
In 1936 the Metropolitan Borough of Woolwich cleared the orchards and started 198 homes as the first stage of the Horn Park Estate, with early tenants moving out from crowded parts of the borough. The war stopped it. Building resumed afterwards and the finished estate ran to about 1,100 homes, and the farmhouse it replaced had stood near what is now the junction of Alnwick Road and Horncastle Road. Horn Park sits in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, not Lewisham.
Estate houses set the pattern
Stock here is mostly family houses off one build programme, laid out in the 1930s and finished in the 1950s, rather than the period conversions and flats you get closer to Blackheath. Kitchens of that vintage tend to carry a freestanding cooker or a tall built-in housing with two cavities stacked, which is a double oven at £110 and about two hours.
The South Circular runs across the top
Westhorne Avenue carries the A205 South Circular along the north of the area, which puts Horn Park inside the ring where there is no call-out fee. Lee and Mottingham are the nearest stations, both opened in 1866 on the Dartford Loop Line. The community centre is on Sibthorpe Road.
The caustic stays out of the kitchen

Is Horn Park in Lewisham?
No. It is in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, bordering Lewisham and Bromley. SE12 confuses it, since that was the old Lee postal district.
Do you cover the streets around the park itself?
Yes, including Winn Road, Alnwick Road and Gavestone Road, which border it. Horn Park Primary is on Alnwick Road and Colfe's School is on Horn Park Lane.

Said after the sign-off
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
