The villas set the job here
Most of our Holland Park work is in the big detached and semi-detached Victorian villas built from the 1860s, the ones with the wrought-iron porches and railings on streets like Addison Road, Holland Villas Road and Ilchester Place, which are among the most expensive addresses in the country. Houses this size tend to have a kitchen to match, so we clean a lot of range cookers and AGAs here, along with the odd second oven in a utility or pantry. This is not integrated-flat territory in the way the estates a mile north are. The cast-iron and enamel cookers need cleaning without caustic, and that is what the tank method is for.
How the clean runs
The racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so no chemical smell is left in the kitchen, and where the door is built to allow it we split it to clean between the glass. Every oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave. A single is about ninety minutes, a double nearer two hours, and an AGA takes longer again for the cast iron.
Parking on the avenues
Parking here is usually less of a fight than in the mews streets to the south, but it still needs planning, because Holland Park sits under a controlled parking zone with restricted daytime hours and the grand streets fill with residents' cars. Some driveways off Addison Road are set well back, so we carry the racks in from wherever we can leave the van rather than needing a space at the door. We pass Leighton House on the runs between here and Kensington High Street often enough to set our watches by it. W8, W11 and W14 have sat inside the ULEZ since October 2021, and our vans meet it.

Prices are fixed on the phone with no premium for the postcode, and no call-out fee inside the Circulars. A 90cm range cooker clean in a Holland Villas Road kitchen is quoted the same as one anywhere.
